No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning one. His grandpa showed him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup whatever he possibly could about the game. He would tell his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the adverse feedback from other people destroy his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
Phil started playing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning experience and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he made two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he defeated a number of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable love for poker. Phil says that he is picking up skills every single day and is quite humble about his success. Phil admits to making blunders every single game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
