NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker contender in the world by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to learn everything he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the adverse comments from others annihilate his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
Phil began competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a learning period and winning was not a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made two final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an eternal love for poker. He says that he is picking up skills every day and is quite humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes errors every single game of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Although Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes destroying money games on a normal basis.
