NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker contender in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His papa taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover whatever he could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He did not permit the detrimental comments from other people destroy his ambition of being one of the best poker players on the planet.
He began playing seriously after acquiring a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated many of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every day and is quite abashed about his success. Phil admits to making mistakes in each game of poker and always strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a regular basis.
