NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player in the world by quite a few of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn anything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not let the negative feedback from others annihilate his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.
He began competing seriously after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated many of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to hard work and a continuing passion for poker. Phil states that he is learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. He knows he makes errors every single session of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a regular basis.
