NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning 1. His grandpa showed him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t let the negative feedback from others destroy his goal of being one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil started competing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is very abashed about his success. He knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and always aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some large tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
