NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker player on the planet by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching turning one. His grandpa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to discover whatever he possibly could about poker. He would tell his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not let the negative comments from other people annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil began competing seriously after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a learning experience and winning was not a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated many of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and a continuing love for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is quite abashed about his success. He knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and always strives to get better.
Even though Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a normal basis.
