The Importance of Poker Position
Texas Hold’em is all about players and position. All rounded Texas Hold’em players agree that position in no limit Texas Hold’em is critically significant. Playing your hole cards in last spot may be a great deal more profitable than in starting poker position. This is because a lot more data is assembled before acting.
i.e., I played in a $1-$2 no limit money round at a local casino. I came in holding 2, 9 unsuited on the croupier marker, so I could see some excitement. Flop arrived A-A-4. A bettor in early position made a $15 bet. Two players fold and it was now my turn. I should have dropped out, but his play felt a little off. I ID’d this player as a weak-tight player, and regularly if he had the biggest hand he would only check, so I called.
The turn came down with a 7, meaning it was a A-A-4-7. My opponent made a further bet of $20. I debated a little bit, but took a chance to re-raise another $30thirty dollars on top of his twenty dollars. He dropped out and I take the chips.
Betting at last spot provides you an insight into where you stand by seeing how other players react and wager. On the other hand, gamblers at starting position can use their poker position to check-raise the late seated aggressors and corner them later at the end. In Hold’em, each ends, late and early must be bet carefully.
