NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker player on the globe by most of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to learn every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the adverse comments from other people kill his dream of being one of the best poker players in the world.
He started playing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed many of the better known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing love for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s learning every day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. He knows he makes mistakes in each game of poker and constantly aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
