No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker player in the world by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His papa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup everything he could about poker. Phil routinely told his elders that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the negative comments from other people kill his ambition of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.
He started competing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated quite a few of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and an eternal passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every day and is very abashed about his success. Phil knows he makes errors in each game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Even though Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
