Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor on the globe by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught Phil penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the negative comments from other people destroy his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker players in the world.
Phil began competing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and winning was not a common thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he destroyed many of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to discipline and an eternal passion for poker. Phil states that he is picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his success. He knows he makes errors in each game of poker and always strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has come first in some big tournaments, he likes winning cash games on a normal basis.
