NL Texas Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker competitor on the planet by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to learn whatever he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not let the detrimental comments from other people annihilate his goal of being one of the best poker competitors on the planet.
Phil began playing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a learning period and winning was not a common outcome at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the closing table he defeated a number of the well known pros which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to dedication and an eternal love for the game of poker. He says that he is picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his success. He knows he makes errors every single session of poker and constantly strives to improve.
Even though Phil has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a regular basis.
