Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker contender on the planet by quite a few of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa introduced him to penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every single day and is very abashed about his achievements. He admits to making errors every single game of poker and always aspires to improve.
Even though Ivey has come first in some big tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a regular basis.
