Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the planet by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa showed him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup anything he possibly could about the game. Phil would tell his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil did not permit the detrimental comments from other people kill his goal of being one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.
Phil began playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a learning opportunity and winning was not a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Vegas. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an eternal love for poker. He says that he’s picking up skills every single day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making errors in each session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Even though Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors destroying cash games on a regular basis.
