No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player on the globe by many of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandpa showed him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wished to pickup every little thing he could about poker. He would tell his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the adverse comments from others destroy his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors in the world.

Phil began competing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his techniques at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching period and winning was not a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed a number of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an undying passion for the game of poker. He says that he is learning every single day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making mistakes every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Even though Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
