No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker competitor on the planet by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa introduced him to penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover whatever he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the adverse comments from others annihilate his dream of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors on the planet.

He began competing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated a number of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to discipline and a continuing love for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s learning every day and is incredibly humble about his success. He admits to making errors every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Although Phil has come first in some large tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
