NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the globe by most of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to discover every little thing he could about the game. He routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil did not allow the negative feedback from other people destroy his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.

He began playing seriously after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a common thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated many of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s learning every single day and is very humble about his success. He knows he makes errors every single game of poker and constantly strives to get better.

Although Ivey has won some big tournaments, he likes winning money games on a normal basis.
