NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor in the world by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His papa taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to learn every little thing he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative feedback from others destroy his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.
Phil began playing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for him were a learning period and winning wasn’t a normal outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an undying passion for the game of poker. He says that he is learning every single day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making errors in each session of poker and always aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
