NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker player on the globe by many of the top-ranked professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to learn every little thing he could about poker. He routinely would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t allow the detrimental comments from others kill his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.
Phil began playing intently after getting a false ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the casinos of Atlantic City. The first few years for him were a teaching experience and winning wasn’t a common outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved two final tables and won his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed many of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. He continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Ivey credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his achievements. Phil knows he makes errors every single game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Despite the fact that Ivey has come first in some large tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
