No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker competitor on the globe by most of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before his first birthday. His papa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup anything he could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the detrimental comments from others annihilate his dream of being one of the strongest poker players on the planet.
He began playing intently after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. He became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker where he achieved 2 final tables and came away with his first World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the final table he destroyed a number of the well known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and a continuing passion for the game of poker. He states that he’s picking up skills every day and is very humble about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes blunders in each session of poker and always strives to improve.
Even though Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a regular basis.
