No-Limit Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the best poker player in the world by quite a few of the top pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather taught Phil penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was addicted to poker and wanted to learn whatever he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not let the adverse feedback from others annihilate his ambition of becoming one of the best poker players in the world.
He began competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the casinos in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the final table he defeated quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil says that he’s learning every day and is very humble about his achievements. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.
Even though Ivey has come first in some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
