NL Texas Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been branded as the number one poker player on the globe by quite a few of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His grandfather taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to learn everything he could about the game. He would tell his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not let the adverse comments from others destroy his goal of being one of the strongest poker players in the world.
Phil began competing seriously after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial number of years for Phil were a teaching experience and coming away with a win was not a normal thing at the time. Phil became known at the 2000 World Series of Poker when he made two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the closing table he destroyed quite a few of the better known pros including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and a continuing love for the game of poker. He states that he’s learning every day and is quite abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making errors in each game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.
Although Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he favors winning money games on a normal basis.
