NL Hold’em Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?
Phil Ivey has been referred to as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by most of the top professionals. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him penny-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to pickup anything he possibly could about poker. Phil routinely told his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the negative comments from other people destroy his goal of becoming one of the best poker players on the planet.
He started competing intently after getting a false ID by the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial few years for Phil were a teaching opportunity and coming away with a win was not a common thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed a number of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and moved out west to Sin City. Phil continues to play in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to dedication and an undying passion for poker. He says that he is learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making errors every single game of poker and always strives to improve.
Although Phil has won some big tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
