No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the best poker competitor on the globe by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandfather taught him one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover anything he could about the game. Phil routinely told his parents that he was planning on being a professional poker player. He didn’t let the detrimental comments from others destroy his goal of becoming one of the strongest poker players in the world.

He began competing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the casinos of Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a learning period and coming away with a win wasn’t a common thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the final table he destroyed quite a few of the well known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to dedication and a continuing passion for poker. He states that he is learning every day and is very abashed about his accomplishments. Phil admits to making errors in each session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some large tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
