No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker competitor on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before reaching the age of 1. His grandfather introduced him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was addicted to poker and wanted to discover every little thing he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely would tell his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He didn’t let the adverse feedback from others kill his goal of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

Phil began playing intently after acquiring a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his skills at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The initial number of years for him were a learning experience and coming away with a win wasn’t a common outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he defeated a number of the well known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

He made a decision to take his skills to the next level and moved out west to Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and an undying passion for poker. He states that he’s learning every day and is quite abashed about his achievements. Phil admits to making errors in each session of poker and always strives to improve.

Although Phil has won some big tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
